An amazing day spent at City of Hope.

Since the moment I came up with the idea for this ride, I wanted to involve City of Hope in it somehow. It was important to me because my dad had been treated there from when he was first diagnosed with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis [FAP] in 1974 until he passed away from cancer in 1978.

Because of City of Hope my dad was able to receive the best treatment possible. The doctors and staff went above and beyond to make sure my dad and family were taken care of. Truly compassionate care.

The day went better than I could have hoped for. Shawn Le, Senior Media Relations Specialist, set up a tour of City of Hope’s amazing facility with Bridget, who took me on a wonderful and super-informative tour. Also, I was given a surprise when I showed up at COH. I was told that Dr. Julian Sanchez wanted to talk with me. He does a lot of work in the area of FAP. He also has knowledge of Desmoid Tumors as well. In talking to him, I received some interesting information about FAP treatment.

I shot video of the tour and my conversation with Dr. Sanchez. I need some time to edit the all the video. Once I have edited the video and uploaded it, I will include the video in a blog post that will have much more information on my day spent at City of Hope.

I would like to thank Shawn, Bridget and Dr. Sanchez for making such a day at City of Hope possible.

Your Dad would be very proud of you, as am I. To see you standing in front of that fountain all these years after we spent time there is awesome. I’m so happy your day at City of Hope went so well.
    Love, Mom
