Elegia. Meet one of my favorite stretches of asphalt, Hwy 55.

Since I was on the Menominee Indian Reservation to get a physical from my primary doctor. For the purpose of him signing a medical release form for the Reel Recovery Fly Fishing Retreat I will be participating in, I figured I’d introduce Elegia(the Ducati Multistrada 1200S I will be riding) to one of my favorite roads to ride. Hwy 55. I used to ride my Ducati Monster there all the time. 55 winds through the reservation. A highway full of twisties that go through miles of beautiful old growth forest and snakes it’s way along the Wolf River.

I stopped at Spirit Rock, where I always put tobacco on the rock. If you read the sign in one of the photos above you will know why I have done so. That also is the spot where my Monster breathed her last breath one early spring day. Sigh.

Just north of the reservation I would alway stop at Buettner’s Wild Wolf Inn/Herb’s Rafts for a coke and a glass of water. On occasion I would order up some of there yummy yum yum food. The owners, Cindy and Andy, are always so friendly and accommodating. For instance, one time they let me pull my Monster in front of the bar so I could photograph it in that setting.

This day was no different. I wanted to replicate that shot with the Multistrada. Cindy even helped me set up the shot and offered her advice. Which was of the good sort. You can see the results in the slide show above.

They also let me park the Multi next to the river for some additional photos. They can be seen in the slide show above as well.

I was so glad that I was able to tear up Old 55 on the Multistrada before I depart on the ride. It is a very spiritual thing for me. Good stuff for the mind and soul.

Below is a video I took last summer that will show you the stretch of HWY 55 that I rode and a google map of the area. If you’re in the area you might want to have at it.
